The mixed level workshop: Creativity and flow goes nicely together with the beginner workshop: Rope technique and safety. You can attend both or only one or the other.

Welcome to explore creativity and flow with rope! Our goal is to offer you a space to experiment and connect with each other through different exercises.  It’s possible and sometimes recommended to switch which partner is tying.

Content:

We'll focus on creativity, emotions, intention, rhythm, expression and finding inspiration. Exercises include:

  • negotiation game (discussion exercise)

  • different ways to move and be moved

  • emotions and connection with bodies and ropes

  • experimenting with intentions and reversing dynamics

  • tying to music

We focus on freestyle tying and won't teach specific patterns. Emphasis is placed on participants’ own creativity and communication. The workshop includes some written materials and voluntary homework which will be sent via email.

Requirements:

  • Please review Helsinki Shibari's Safer Space Code of Conduct.

  • Some previous experience (For example, Beginner: Rope technique and safety OR some other beginner workshop)

  • Basic knowledge and skills of safety, negotiation and communication

Accessibility:

  • The workshop includes sitting, standing up, and moving about. Exercises are voluntary and can be adjusted according to abilities and/or preferences.

  • After signing up, participants will be asked for any special arrangements which may be needed. You may get in touch with any questions and concerns beforehand as well.

What you need to bring with you:

  • clothes that you are comfortable in

  • 1-2 ropes (there are ropes to borrow, if you don't have your own), safety shears or a cutter
