Peer Rope

  • As long as you agree to our code of conduct, anyone is welcome to participate! You can come as you are, regardless of your gender, sexuality, background, body, abilities and role. Note that our events are for adults.

Newbies are always welcome to Peer Rope. We start with a beginning circle where everyone has an opportunity to ask for tips, guidance or try to find a practice partner.

Alone or together. You can always come to peer rope alone or with others! Tie yourself or get to know new people and try to find someone to tie with. we can't guarantee you'll find people to do rope / play with.

  • No, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. In Peer rope you can also play, have a session or you can just come and hang out, drink coffee or tea and talk to people.

  • To ensure a safer space and making sure you get in, we ask you to be on time: by 18:45. We start with the payment and you get to settle down to the space.

At 19:05 we’ll start with an opening circle where we go trough our code of conduct, rules of the space and a short introduction round. We will close the doors for the duration of the starting circle and open the doors again after.

  • We hang out with other rope people, chat, tie, teach, learn, drink tea.. There is no organized teaching, we learn from each other. You can ask if you want to learn something and teach if you want to show something to others.

You can also just do your own thing, tie, play or just chat with others.

You can come and go as you please, you don’t have to stay till the end.

  • To ensure a safer space and making sure you get in, we ask you to be on time, we can take about 35 people in. We start with the payment and you get to settle down to the space. You can stay until the end of the evening or leave when you want to, we will give a light signal at 22:30 so you know there is 30 minutes to untie and do aftercare before the night ends at 23:00.

At 19:05 in “Sali 1” we’ll start with an opening circle where we go trough our code of conduct, rules of the space and a short introduction round. We will close the doors for the duration of the starting circle and open the doors again after. During the introduction round you can share if you would like to learn or teach something or if you have some plans for the evening. It is also possible to not say anything.

We usually dedicate one side of the room for peer learning and the other side for playing/ sessions. Often in the beginning of the evening, people do more peer learning and towards the end of the night, people might be playing more. If people are doing peer learning or just chatting in the lobby, you can usually ask to join in. When people are playing, negotiating or doing after care, give them space.

There is a lobby with kitchen, sofas and three bathrooms. The lobby is great for hanging out with others, approaching people and asking for advice and eating your snacks (Helsinki Shibari has tea, coffee and oat milk!) The sofas are also a good place for negotiating and doing aftercare.

Be mindful and respectful of safety distances if someone wants to maintain them.

Helsinki Shibari has some ropes to borrow that are not safe for suspension but you can tie on the floor with them. We also have rings and bamboo to borrow for those who know how to use them. We recommend wearing clothes that are elastic, comfortable and not too loose so that they are not in the way when tying.

We hope you have a great peer rope with us!
