The beginner workshop: Rope technique and safety and the mixed level workshop: Creativity and flow go nicely together. You can attend both or only one or the other.

Welcome to take the first steps in your rope journey! You are welcome to attend with more previous experience as well, but please note that we start from the very basics!  You’ll have an opportunity to test and reflect what tying and being tied feels like. It’s possible and sometimes recommended to switch which partner is tying.

Content:

We'll discuss basic physical rope safety and negotiation and practice handling the ropes and wrapping as well as making some basic ties (lark’s head, reverse tension, half hitch, adding new rope and single column tie). The workshop includes some written materials and voluntary homework which will be sent via email.

Requirements:

Accessibility:

  • The workshop includes sitting, standing up, and moving about. Exercises are voluntary and can be adjusted according to abilities and/or preferences.

  • After signing up, participants will be asked for any special arrangements which may be needed. You may get in touch with any questions and concerns beforehand as well.

What you need to bring with you:

  • water bottle, snacks and/or lunch

  • clothes that you are comfortable in

  • 1-2 ropes (there are ropes to borrow, if you don't have your own), safety shears or a cutter

  • notebook/paper and pen (if you like to take notes)
